Ход урока

I. Организационный момент

- Today we will continue speaking about the main British, Russian and American holidays. Besides you will watch the video about Thanksgiving Day.

- Let's begin with pronunciation. Open your books at p. 46. Read the proper names again. Pronounce them correctly.

- Describe any holiday discussed at the previous lesson. Don't name it. Other pupils will guess what holiday it is and in what countries people celebrate it. (People celebrate this holiday on the 25th of December. It is held in honour of the birth of the Christ — it is Christmas. People celebrate it in Australia, the USA, the UK, Canada and New Zealand, etc.)

- What do you remember about Thanksgiving Day? Let Olga be the teacher now. She will ask you the questions from ex. 48, p. 105. Answer them without looking into your book.

- Now watch the video about Thanksgiving Day and get ready to answer the questions in ex. 49, p. 105.

There are some reasons in ex. 51 on p. 105. Work in groups of three and discuss these reasons. Agree on the five most important reasons, write them down. Then report them to class. (We have decided that people celebrate special days with their families to... )

— Are you a friendly family? Do you celebrate any holidays together? Do you think it is a good tradition? What do you usually do during the parties? What presents do you give to each other? What was the most enjoyable present given to you?

— As you know, every holiday has its special attributes. Look at the pictures in ex. 52, p. 105.1 would like you to read the given words.
