Ход урока
I. Организационный момент
— Today you will train using some words in your speech and learn to
express your opinion about the jobs for teenagers in dialogues. At the end of
the lesson you will write a story about the job you would like to do.
II. Фонетическая разминка
— And as usual, we begin with pronunciation. Let's revise the tongue
twister you have learnt. Remind me any tongue twister you like. Come to the
blackboard and make all the pupils revise it.

III. Речевая разминка
— In ex. 68 on p. 109 there are some words and expressions from the
texts about the teenagers' jobs. Match the pairs of words that have the same
meaning.
Keys: quickly - fast, not slowly; to make
money — to earn; to get -to receive; safe — not dangerous; not true — false; to
take part — to participate; to begin — to start; difficult — not easy; to win —
to succeed; to give up something — to stop doing something; to make up one's
mind — to decide.
— Use some of them in the sentences of your own. Divide into two teams.
Say your sentences for the other team. Let the pupils translate them. Get the
points for every correct sentence.

Mr Brown drives too fast. It isn't easy to
earn your living. Mr X received a threatening letter. You may stay at this
place: it is quite safe here. Correct the false statements. If you want to
participate in the competition write a special letter to the organizers. We
shall start our lesson with correcting mistakes in your test. He began this
project many years ago and he succeeded. Don't give up hope! The made up his
mind to go to Africa.
IV. Обучение диалогической речи
— Last time we read the texts about the jobs British teenagers usually
do. Look through the texts again. Say which of the jobs you would like to do
and why?
— What do their parents think about earning
pocket money? Are British teenagers independent in their choice of subjects?
What do you think about it? Would you like to be independent in the choice of
the subjects? Which of the subjects would you choose?
Why?
— Work in pairs now. Share your opinion on
the teenagers' jobs popular in Britain. Imagine that you are sitting at home
and looking through the magazine. You have found the information about jobs for
teenagers like in ex. 66. Discuss the problem.
— Act out your dialogues. Listen to each
other. Complete the table on your cards.

— And their parents encourage their children to be independent.
— That's wonderful! My parents don't let me do anything myself. Besides,
they never ask my opinion about the things they buy.

choose to earn money?
— Well, as far as I know, they do everything
they are interested in. For example, they may babysit, teach computing, walk
dogs, train dogs or care for domestic animals.
— That's quite interesting I think. Then
teenagers must have some special traits to be successful.
— You are perfectly right. For instance, to
train dogs you must remember that some dogs like some people are slow learners.
That's why you should be patient, firm, but kind.
— I think, I'll do some kind of work to have my own pocket money.
— Good luck to you.

I've just read an article about British teenagers. Do you now how they spend
their free time?
— No. Would you tell me?
— With pleasure. They usually earn their own
pocket money.
— What do they do for that?
— They babysit, teach computing, walk dogs,
train dogs or care for domestic animals.
— Really? Do theysucceed?
— Yes, of course. The teenagers usually choose
what they really like to do. To be successful you must remember that for
example to babysit you must love babies, be patient, kind and very responsible.
— Well, then why not to start earning our own
money? Would you like to join me?
— With great pleasure!
— I see that you are tired. Let's have a rest.

— Now it's your turn to express your opinion about the job you would
like to do to earn your pocket money. Use the teenagers' stories as models. Do
it in writing.
— Finish writing your stories at home.
VII. Подведение итогов урока
— We have done a lot today. It was interesting to know your opinion
about the teenagers' jobs. That is all for today. See you next time.
