Satirical
novel "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court” by Mark Twain was published
in 1889. It is the tale of a commonsensical Yankee who is carried back in time of
Britain
in the Dark Ages and it celebrates homespun in gentility and democratic value
in a contrast to the superstitious interpitude of feudal monarchy. Twain wrote
it after reading Sir Thomas Mallory’s "Morte d’Arthur”. |
