 Last month my
mother had her birthday. My father decided to throw a surprise
party for her. Two weeks, before the event he booked a room in
my mother's favourite cafe. And then my father began to invite
our relatives and friends. |
My mother's name
is Catherine. Her second name is Vladimirovna and the last name
of my mom is Kruchinina. My mom is the best mother in the world.
She is 41. My mom is a teacher. She works at school number 85. |
I spent my last
winter holidays in Moscow. This year I did not go anywhere.
First I thought it would be dull to stay at home. But how it
seems to me they have been one of the finest holidays in my
life. May be that's because they were our last winter holidays
at school but all the same we had a lot of fun. |
Pupils at
school
have their vacations four times a year — in winter, in autumn,
in spring, and in summer. As for me,
the
best holidays are in summer. All people enjoy summer holidays
very much. It is a great pleasure to have a rest after a whole
year of hard work or study. People like to travel during summer
holidays. |
My hobby is
reading. Some people think that as more and more people have
televisions in their homes, fewer and fewer people will buy
books and newspapers. |
I have several
hobbies. But my major hobby is looking after my pets. I am fond
of animals. I think nothing else in our life could supply us
with more pleasant emotions than our pets. It is so pleasant to
know that somebody needs you and loves you only for the fact
that you exist. Your friends can betray you, but your pets —
never. |
Tastes
differ.
Different people like different things, different people have
different hobbies. I go in for
sports, I like to play tennis. I go to play tennis every day.
Sport is very important part of our life. Many people go in for
sports, they jogging, walking, swimming, skating, skiing, train
themselves in clubs and different sections. |
This is my last
year at school, and I work hard to pass my final exams
successfully. As I am very busy, I can't help my parents much in
keeping the house. |
This year I am
going to leave school. Before people leave school, they
understand that the time to choose their future profession has
already come. It's not an easy task to make a right choice. |
I have a lot of
friends, but the best friend of mine is Irina. She has blue
eyes, a round face, fair hair and a broad smile. She is short
and slim. I have known her for a long time, since our first
school years. But we became true friends four years ago. |
I would like to
tell you about my friends. I have a lot of them, but my close
friend is Marina. She is my school-mate. We have been studying
together in one form all the eleven years of our school-life.

I have a lot of
friends. Most of them are my former schoolmates. But my bosom
friend is Lena. She is 16. Lena isn't very tall, but she is

We have a nice
flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor.
It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas,
electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry
rubbish down. There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a
hall in our flat. |
Finishing school
is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school
leavers. Many roads are opened before them: vocational and
technical schools, institutes and universities. But it is not an
easy thing to choose a profession out of more than 2,000
existing in the world. |
When we first
come to school, a teacher meets us and says: "I am going to
teach you how to write, to read, and to count." No matter how
many teachers we have after that, we remember our first
teacher's name for the rest of our lives. Teachers are with us
during all our life. We always remember what they say and how
they act. |
I'm fond of
reading. Usually I borrow books from the library, but I have a
lot of them at home, too. I like to read books about famous
people and detective stories. Literature means much in my life.
It helps to form the character and to understand life better.

Reading is
one of
my hobbies, and that's why I try to use every spare minute to
read. I like different kinds of literature. I like
Russian
and foreign, classic and modern literature. I usually read
different books: love stories, detective stories or historical
novels. |
One of Russia's
most celebrated poets of all times, Michael Lermontov was born
in Moscow in the family of a nobleman. He spent his childhood
and youth in Tarckany, in the province of Penza. |
We all need
exercise. This is true for young people (in their teens) as well
as for adults. Even if you don't plan make sports your main
occupation. This is my opinion and I feel like it is true. |
My favourite room
is our kitchen. Perhaps the kitchen is the most important room
in many houses, but it is particularly so in our house because
it's not only where we cook and eat, but it's also the main
meeting place for the family and friends. |
"Pygmalion"
is
one of B. Shaw's best comedies and one of my favourite ones. The principal
characters of the play are Eliza Doolitle and Henry Higgins.
Eliza, a girl of eighteen, makes her living by selling flowers
in the streets of London. She comes from the lowest social
strata and speaks with a strong Cockney accent, which is
considered to be the most uncultured English. |
My favourite
literary character is Elisa Doolittle. Elisa is the main
character of Bernard Shaw's famous comedy "Pygmalion". Elisa is
eighteen, she has a strong Cockney accent. She comes from the
lowest social level. She makes money by selling flowers in the
streets of London. |
Usually we see
films either in the cinema or on the TV. But from time to time I
go to the cinema. My favourite film is "War and Peace". The
script of the film was written by Sergey Bondar-chuk and W.
Solowjew. The Leningrad (now Sankt Petersburg) ballet-dancer
Ludmila Saweljiewa played the main part. She played this role
wonderfully. |
It's said that
none of the British writers of our age enjoyed such popularity
all over the world as Agatha Christie did. Her works were
translated into many languages, and scores of films were made
using them as the script. |
My favourite book
is "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. D. Defoe (1660—1731) was a
great master of realistic detail. The novel "Robinson Crusoe"
was written in 1719. The novel is praise to human labour and the
triumph of man over nature. |
My favourite
actors are Mel Gibson and Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi Goldberg came
a long way to her present international success. Her mother was
divorced and poor. Whoopi chose a very difficult career for a
black woman. She started as a theatre actress and did very well.

My father is the
best father in the world. His name is An-drey. His second name
is Vasilievich and family name is Kravenko. He is 43. My dad is
an engineer. He works at an industrial plant. |
My family isn't
large. It consists of four members. But each member of owe
family has his own tastes and interests. For example, my brother
is fond of sports. So early in the morning he goes jogging.

I am Nikita
Kuznetsov. I am fifteen years old. I want to tell you a few
words about my family. My family is large. I have got a mother,
a father, a sister, a brother, and a grandmother. There are six
of us in the family. |
When a
school-girl I always envied those students who went to school
five but not six days a week, as we did. So you may guess, I had
the only day off — Sunday. On Sunday, I didn't have to hurry
anywhere, that's why, I got up at nine or ten o'clock. I wasn't
an early riser. |
As
a rule, I get
up at half past six. I put on my dressing-gown, go into bathroom
and turn on the bath taps. Good health is better than wealth, so
I do my morning exercises. I get breakfast at seven-thirty and
listen to the news over the radio. |
Birthday is a
very wonderful day. Everybody likes to celebrate it. It is a
good opportunity to spend time with friends, parents, relatives.

I have many
friends. I like my friends. When we gather, we play computer
games, chat, make lots of noise. I like noise. To my mind,
people should have many friends as possible, because if you have
not friends, you just become very dull and boring person. |
I love music,
I
think people can not live without it. The first thing I do in
the morning I switch on my tape — recorder. We can hear
music
everywhere: in the streets, in the shops, on TV, over the radio,
in the cars, in the parks, everywhere. |
There is a saying
that if you want something to be done well, do it yourself. So,
I am following this wise saying and would like to introduce
myself. |
