Last year I
had a pet. It was a hamster. It’s name was
Marusia. It was very funny. I liked to play with it. I gave it carrot
and cabbage, but it liked seeds and cheese. It lived in his cage for
three months but then it ran away and we didn’t find it. I was very
unhappy. I don’t have a pet now. |
Is it simply a temple? How could it take its
place among other
unique structures such as the Pyramid, the Hanging Gardens, and the
Colossus of Rhodes? For the people who actually visited it the answer
was simple. It was not just a temple... It was the most beautiful
structure on earth... It was built in honour of the Greek goddess of
hunting, wild nature, and fertility. That was the Temple of Artemis at
Ephesus.

Most of the
British live in towns and cities. But they have an idealized
vision of the countryside. To the British, the countryside has almost
none of the negative associations which it has in some countries, such
as poor facilities, lack of educational opportunities, unemployment and
poverty. |
Because
English culture dominates the cultures of the other three
nations of the British Isles, everyday habits, attitudes and values
among the peoples of the four nations are very similar. However, they
are not identical, and what is often regarded as typically British may
in tact be only typically English. This is especially true with regard
to one notable characteristic - anti-intellectualism. |
The British
can be particularly and stubbornly conservative about
anything which is perceived as token of Britishness. In these use the
same scales that are used nearly everywhere else in the world. But it
has had only limited The British can be particularly and stubbornly
conservative about anything which is perceived as token of Britishness. |
The British
have few living folk traditions and are top
individualistic to have the same everyday habits as each other. However,
this does not mean that they like change. They may not behave in
traditional ways, but they like symbols of tradition and stability. |
The third reason for caution about generalizations relates to the large-scale immigration to Britain from places outside the British Isles in the twentieth century. In its cities at least, Britain is a multicultural society. There are areas of London, for example, in which a distinctively Indian way of life predominates, with Indian shops, Indian clothes, and Indian languages. |
Sport plays a great role in our life. It’s a profession, an entertainment and a way which leads to a healthy life. We’ve been connected with sport since our childhood, though we don’t even notice this fact.

Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. |
My friend Nick is very busy and he doesn't have much time to spare. But he's got a lot of hobbies and interests. Five years ago Nick was fond of collecting stamps. |
